Healthier Mongolian Beef

Don’t we all love a comfy takeout every once in a while? Well, with this recipe you will say goodbye to those Chinese takeout menus on your kitchen drawer! This recipe is so delicious that it can’t compare to takeout and the best part is that with this healthier version you feel good afterward!

Ingredients
1 lb flank steak
1/4 cup arrowroot (or cornstarch)
3 garlic cloves, chopped
5 green onions, cut in 2-4 inch slices (green part only)
5 thin fresh ginger slices, chopped (1 tbsp)
1/3 cup low sodium soy sauce ( sub for coconut aminos)
1/3 cup water
1/2 cup brown sugar
sesame oil
chili flakes
To serve:
Cooked quinoa or brown rice
Directions:
Cut flank steak in 2-4 inch pieces and transfer to a bowl.
Add arrowroot or cornstarch to beef and toss until everything is coated.
In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, water, and brown sugar to make the sauce.
In a wok or big skillet heat some sesame oil and add beef, cook until medium (both sides) and take out of the heat, then set aside.
Clean the wok and add sesame oil again, sautee garlic and ginger for 2 min. add beef again, add sauce, and green onions. If desired, add chili flakes for a little spice. Remove from heat
Serve with quinoa or rice and enjoy your healthier Mongolian beef
